Would you like to be alerted to Waterfront West's newest properties? Now you have the freedom to create your own personalized Property Alert. With our RSS feed, our properties can be delivered directly to your Inbox, desktop or cell phone with times and regions controlled by you! What is an RSS Feed? RSS is an acronym for Real Simple Syndication. It is a type of Internet language that allows RSS feed reading software or aggregators to monitor Web sites for updates and notify subscribers almost instantaneously when new information is available. Many news services, blogs and multimedia service providers are now using RSS feeds to send their updates, headlines, audio and video files direct to their subscribers (e.g. CNN.com, BBC.com, etc...). How do I set this up? You do not have to be a member of our Buyers' Club to get our latest listings delivered to you. There are three ways to be updated on our latest properties: 1. Newest Listings Via E-Mail This is the simplest and quickest method of receiving our new properties. Using a service called Squeet, you can subscribe to our RSS feed and have properties sent to your Inbox for FREE at a time designated by YOU (every ½ hr, daily, weekly or at a manually preset time). To create a Squeet account simply click here and enter your information - then cut and copy the following URL into your desired feeds list: http://www.waterfrontwest.com/index2.php?option=com_hotproperty&task=rss&no_html=1 You will now receive every new property that is listed on our service automatically via e-mail. You will also receive notification every time a property is edited (price changes, new photos, etc...). You will only need to login to your Squeet account to change your receiving preferences or add new RSS feeds. 2. Browser based RSS reader There are several FREE online RSS readers available at this time. Using these readers does not require you to download any software. To view the newest properties, simply create and log in to your account at the web site of your desired reader. If you use our preferred browser based reader, Bloglines , you will be able to screen our RSS feed for your city or region of preference. To set up Bloglines for Waterfront West: a.) Go to Bloglines.com and create an account. b.) In the “Add Feed” section of your account, cut and paste the following URL: http://www.waterfrontwest.com/index2.php?option=com_hotproperty&task=rss&no_html=1 c.) To separate properties by city, region, etc… create and save a “Search” for each area of interest using key words (e.g. Saltspring Island, Penticton, Invermere, etc…) d.) The “Searches” you have created should now appear in your list of feeds. e.) Set your delivery time preferences for each feed. If you would like to receive auto-notification of new properties, you must download a Bloglines “Notifier” to display on you desktop, PDA or cell phone. 3. RSS Feed Reading Software. If you would like a more robust system to get your latest news and properties, you can download RSS feed reading software. These programs offer more advanced options for reading and sifting through your RSS feeds. Some of them are free and others are paid programs.
